New BIM guidelines for Hong Kong

New BIM standards developed by BRE have been adopted by Hong Kong’s Construction Industry Council (CIC). The CIC is a statutory body which supports the long-term development of the construction industry, as well as organising events like the International Conference on BIM.In 2020, BRE and Advanced Construction Information Development (ACID) won a joint bid to provide consultancy services to enhance the CIC’s BIM standards with the international BIM standard ISO 19650.

The completion of this work, and publication of the new Hong Kong standard, aims to make the construction industry in one of the world’s most vibrant cities more efficient and sustainable. The CIC will now work to ensure the standard is adopted by architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors and other industry practitioners in Hong Kong.
