About the Building

Armstrong Point comprises three new build industrial buildings housing a total of nine individual units. The sustainable approach being taken for the development will result in a significant decrease in carbon output in relation to traditional building techniques and significantly reduced carbon output on completion.

The building scored well across the BREEAM categories, with maximum points in the Management category, more than 95% of available credits achieved in the Energy category, and 80% or more in Health & Wellbeing, Water, Waste and Pollution.

Green Strategy

The overall strategy has been to facilitate sustainable development by demonstrating the use of new and existing renewable technologies and construction methods.

Environmental Features

  • An electric car charging point on site.
  • Solar heating panels to provide effective preheating of the hot water. Each unit will be provided with individual 210 litre twin coiled un-vented cylinders, connected to roof mounted evacuated tube solar collectors.
  • A photovoltaic system comprising of nine PV arrays across the units. Each array will be 35.5m2 with a nominal peak power of 5.23 kWp.
  • A 6kW wind turbine also providing electricity for the site.
  • Solar Wall renewable heating technology as the primary heating source, with gas warm air heaters as a back-up system during adverse or extreme weather conditions.
  • Comprehensive sub-metering and tenant feedback.
